Orthopaedic Hospital is sited on a 13-acre campus in downtown Los Angeles. For almost a century, the hospital has served as an academic medical center specializing in orthopedics. In 2002, Orthopaedic Hospital awarded Jensen + Partners the role of Construction Manager for their new Outpatient Medical Center and Master Planner for eight acres at the north of the campus.
The new 40,000-square-foot Outpatient Medical Center Facility opened in 2004. Despite the dramatically escalating construction market in Southern California, construction was completed under budget and ahead of schedule. The facility was developed with enhanced information technology and the new facility and system allowed the hospital to triple the number of patients treated each year.
The Orthopaedic Hospital Master Plan began in the Spring of 2003, and was an intensive programmatic and real estate planning project. The overall Master Plan included one million square feet of existing and new buildings, and considered a range of concept physical plans including both medical and non-medical uses on the campus.
