$60MM New-Build Project

Project Information
Owner:

City of Hope

Location:
Duarte, California
Architect:

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership

Contractor:

TBD

This new research building is being developed to house the Advanced Molecular Therapies program at City of Hope. The new facility will house a collaborative program focused on development of novel molecular-targeted therapies for more effective and less toxic treatments of cancer. Project goals include the creation of a space that is stimulating, cost effective, collaborative and supportive.

The proposed building will comprise approximately 100,000 gross square feet of laboratory and campus support spaces. It is anticipated that this project will be approximately five stories including a basement level, and will house the following:

  • Academic Center
  • Biochemistry and chemistry laboratories
  • Core laboratories to support both building and campus-wide programs potentially including high through-put screening, synthetic chemistry, functional genomics, and analytic pharmacy
  • Potential inclusion of specialty space for certified good manufacturing processing (cGMP) compliant space for clinical pharmaceutical production
  • Shell space for future recruitments

The project is sited at the center of City of Hope's Duarte campus on ground currently occupied by two research laboratories. The project site frames the east edge of a campus quadrangle containing a ceremonial allee of trees and faces the new CITI building, also a Jensen + Partners project.
