Orthopaedic Hospital is sited on a 13-acre campus in downtown Los Angeles. For almost a century, the hospital has served as an academic medical center specializing in orthopedics. In 2002, Orthopaedic Hospital awarded Jensen + Partners the role of Construction Manager for their new Outpatient Medical Center and the Master Plan for the 8 northern acres.
The new 40,000 sq. ft. Outpatient Medical center facility opened in 2004. Construction was completed under budget, despite the dramatically escalating construction market in Southern California, and ahead of the projected schedule. The facility has a fully digital radiology system, which allowed the hospital to triple the number of patients treated each year.
The Orthopaedic Hospital Master Plan began in the spring of 2003, and has been an intensive programmatic and real estate planning project. The overall Master Plan has included 1 million square feet of existing and new buildings, and the conceptualization of a multitude of different physical plans and uses for the campus, both medical and non-medical.
